This course provides you the platform to explore artistic ideas while developing a portfolio that includes a variety of work demonstrating a range of media and techniques. You will strengthen both your observational drawing and critique skills, cultivate a personal point of view, as well as prepare a digital portfolio using professional standards. Additionally, you will develop an artist’s statement to accompany your work, as well as prepare your work for exhibition.
+ Compile/produce a digital portfolio of 10-20 pieces representing your best and most recent artwork. + Show evidence of knowledge and application of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create visually engaging images.
+ Show evidence of individual style and personal voice.
+ Show evidence of the creative process and decision-making: explore a theme in depth, use sketchbooks to develop ideas, incorporate problem-solving strategies, and collect resources.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of historical and contemporary artists and artwork from around the globe and locate your own artwork in this context.
+ Critique artwork (your own and others) and revise work based on critique.
+ Demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to prepare artwork for the exhibition.
