WALK THROUGH LOWELL, OBSERVE THE CULTURE, LEARN THE HISTORY & DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION ON-SITE.
The City of Lowell is rich in history and art. In this course, students will explore "on location" drawing and painting techniques while finding a connection to the history of Lowell. Students will learn about the historic fabric that makes up present day Lowell and make connections to draw with in their artistic practices. Classes will take place outdoors at various locations in Lowell that have a significance to Lowell's history. Techniques of on-site drawing and painting will be explored and themes of contemporary art will be introduced. Students will develop skills in perspective drawing, gestural drawing, expressive painting techniques. This course is open to all levels of artists who are looking to develop their portfolio and/or students who are looking to strengthen their skills in perspective and drawing on-site.
This program is a traveling class; by registering your child for this class you are giving permission for them to travel on foot to new locations in the city of Lowell each class.
Required materials: Sketchbook (mixed media or water color paper preferred), Sunblock, good walking shoes, drinking water, hat
Suggested materials: Range of drawing pencils, micron pens, watercolor set, paintbrushes
