OBSERVE, DISCOVER, AND DRAW BOTH NATURAL AND URBAN SETTINGS.
The city of Lowell is rich with structures of old and new, cultural narrative, and unexpected natural landscapes. In this course, students will explore "on location" drawing and painting techniques. A special focus will be placed on utilizing the juxta-position of urban landscapes and natural landscapes. Students will learn techniques for drawing perspective, speed drawing, and experiment with a variety of materials. Techniques of on-site drawing and painting will be explored and themes of contemporary art will be introduced. Students will develop skills in perspective drawing, gestural drawing, expressive painting techniques.
This course is open to all levels of artists who are looking to develop their portfolio and/or students who are looking to strengthen their skills in perspective and drawing on-site.
This program is a traveling class; by registering your child for this class you are giving permission for them to travel on foot to new locations in the city of Lowell each class.

Required materials: Sketchbook (mixed media or water color paper preferred), Sunblock, good walking shoes, drinking water, hat
Suggested materials: Range of drawing pencils, micron pens, watercolor set, paintbrushes
Due to new health and safety concerns, we ask that students come to class with a mask. We will provide hand sanitizer and wipe down working areas with disinfectant before and after class. Shields and limited class sizes will also be implemented during this time. We ask that if your child or a household family member does not feel well to be open and communicate with us about your child missing class as a precautionary measure. Restaurant rules apply for snacks and drinks... students will be allowed to eat and drink at their work space but must wear masks when traveling through the studio.
